FRIDAY NIGHTS AT CALOUNDRA LITTLE ATHLETICS
Fun Family Fitness and a Whole Lot of Community Spirit!
Our Friday night program begins with a lively group warm-up at 5.30pm, and the evening runs for approximately 2 hours, depending on age group numbers and how many helpful hands we have on deck.
We need YOU - Little Athletics is built on parent participation. This is NOT a drop-off activity. Our kids thrive when parents are involved. Whether it's raking the long jump pit, place judging, collecting shot puts, helping in the canteen, or sizzling on the BBQ, there's a job for everyone. Even helping set up or pack down makes a huge difference. Our returning families and committee members will guide you every step of the way. No experience necessary!
Family Bond Reminder - When you register, you'll pay a Family Bond, which will be refunded if you help regularly. Make sure to pop your name on the helper list at the canteen each night, it's our way of keeping track and showing appreciation!
Arrive early, stay connected - To ensure a smooth start, please arrive by 5.15pm. While the athletes warm up, all parents are invited to gather for a quick Centre update and important announcements from our Centre Manager.
What happens on a Friday Night?
Tiny Tots (3-4 years)
After warm-up, they'll be led by our Tiny Tots co-ordinator to a designated safe, roped-off area for play-based athletics activities like bean bag toss, mini hurdles, balance games, and more.
Parents must stay and help run the activities - it's a fun way to engage with your little one and other families. Their session finishes between 6.30 - 7.00pm.
U6 to U8 Athletes
After the warm-up, kids will gather behind their age group trolley. With the guidance of Age Managers and parent helpers, they’ll rotate through 4 events, combining skill-building with fun and games that develop confidence and co-ordination.
U9 to U17 Athletes
These age groups will rotate through 5 events, covering all athletic disciplines as guided by LAQ. It’s a full night of friendly competition, skill progression, and teamwork.
Programs rotate every week, and will be shared on our CLAC Facebook Page.
After the events wrap up, head to the canteen for a steak or chicken fillet burgers, or perhaps classic sausages in bread and pull up a chair with fellow families. It’s the perfect way to wind down, connect, and share a few laughs.
Let’s work together to make Friday nights the highlight of the week for our kids and ourselves. It’s about movement, memories, and making it all happen as a team. We can’t do it without you!
